LOCAL AND GENERAL.
For the convenience of trainers and owners, the office of Mr A. Coleman, Secretary to the Stratford Racing Club, will be open between 7.30 and 9 o'clock this (Saturday) evening.
Anticipating such a fine crowd on New Year's Day at the Stratford Races, the Club has erected a huge marquee as an extra afternoon tea tent. The location, is at the back of the Stewards' Stand in a nicely-shel-tered paddock, part of the property so wisely obtained recently Access is gained by a small footbridge leading from the saddling paddock
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford, report some of the prices received on behalf of clients for commandeered wools, and which appear very satisfactory to farmers and growers:— PM Kohuratahi wool per lb, 0 Pohokura lljd, RS Douglas DP-R Whanga 14*d to 14fd, O-T Toko Road lofd to 16}d, HS-CC Pohokura 14}d.
A useful wall calendar issued by the National Mutual Life Association is to hand from Mr Newton King, local agent. The calendar is in the form of a map of the world, and has the British possessions prominent in red.
