TRENCH RAIDING, Press Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association London, December 22. General Sir Douglas Haig reports. —A strong raiding part£ last night approached us opposite Lens. Some entered the trenches,, but were promptly ejected'. successfully raided the trenches southward of Aimentieres. Our aeroplanes dropped a ton of explosives at points of military importance behind the enemy’s lines. ARTILLERY ON THE VERDUN SECTOR. Paris, December 22. A communique states: —The enemy violently bombarded the sector Louve-mont-Vaux. We replied. In the course of other artillerying we destroyed gas apparatus between Berny-au-hac and Rheims.
