ENEMY POSITIONS BOMBARDED. Press Association—Copyright, Auswa lian and N.Z. Cable Association. London, December 21, Official.—British aeroplanes bombed river craft westward of Kut. Strong reconnaissances were made westward of the Sbmnarau bend of the Tigris. The enemy’s positions at Sananiyat and Kut were heavily bombarded, and the bridge over the Hair River was set afire.
MESSAGE FROM QUEEN OF THE BELGIANS. . Wellington, December 22. The High Commissioner has torwarded to the Government the following message from the Queen of tne Belgians:— “The Queen is much touched with the evidence of sympathy of the people of New Zealand, and is delighted with the' generosity they show’ towards our unhappy country. Will you kindly, in response to Her Majesty’s wishes, convey the expression of hci gratitude to the kind donors, and inform them thfil our Sovereign Is happy to be the intermediary between themselves and the victims of . the war.”
