Their behaviour everywhere is that of a victorious army.

The Daily Telegraph’s Rotterdam correspondent says: The unexpected U sequel to the peace proposals is the great crop of extravagant and optimised tic rumours in Germany, culminating ojtiiin the widely believed fable that the ,t belligerents have begun to discuss terms. The rumour spread like wildfire, necessitating-inspired cautions in the newspapers warning the people that nothing had happened beyond what was officially announced. 1

The newspapers denounce the peace offer as'a clever attempt to disuu to the Allies. BRITAIN’S REPLY. Press Association-Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association Loudon, December 11. Referring to the peace proposals, Mr Bonar Law reminded the House of Commons that Mr Asquith, when moving the last credit vote, declared that the Allies would require adequate reparation for the past, and adequate security for the future. That was still our policy, and that was still the determination of the Government. (Prolonged cheers.)
