MIDHIRST METHODIST CHURCH.
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. (From our own Correspondent.) The Midhirst Methodist tJlmrch celebrated its 28th Birthday on Monday by a tea, concert, and supper.' The ladies were kept busy attending■ to the needs of the crowds who came to the tea. When the Kov. H. 13. Tinsley rose to announce the lust item of the programme, lie faced a crowded house', some standing in the porch. Every item was well received. Miss 0. Brown had the honour of giving the first solo, followed by Mesdames Williams, • Blanchard, Mr L. 1.-yion!, and Rev. E. O. Blamires (encor'd' Mesdames Blanchard and baccy tavoured the-audience with ,a duet, and Mr Mail amused the company with it comic reading. The two recital ions by Rev. Blamires received rounds ol applause; but the item of the evening was a dialogue “Wanted a General 'Servant” by the Misses P. and Vi. Symonds, o.'Brown, A. Smith, Mi. Saywell, and Mrs Bridgman. Ibe arrival and dismissal of the appi* cants caused much merriment. Iho young ladies did their part well, and as elocutionists there ought to bo a future before them. Addresses were given by Mr Wright (father of the Church) and by the Revs. Tinsley and Bridgman. Me G. Smith, in' a brief speech, thanked all who ,had helped to ease the Anniversary such a splendid -aicccs.-. Mesdames Bonnot and McMecclnm in re to be congratulated upon the excellent programme. Supper brought a very enjovable evening to a close.
