The Duke of Devonshire, in 1 ; s first public speech after his arrival hi Canada, declared he had come with an assurance of Britain’s determination to carry the struggle through to the end, and until it would never again 1)0 possible for a small clique of men to force such an outrage upon civilisation and humanity. The spirit now animating the Empire was ample security that this task would be accomplished.
