(By “Cicero.”) The Feilding Jockey Club has received splendid acceptances for their Spring meeting, which- opens to-mor row. This fixture is very popular with Taranaki sportsmen, many of whom intend to be present to-morrow. The Aorangi Trial Plate contains the names of no less than thirty-five horses This event is limited to apprentice riders, many of whom give shocking exhibitions, but Acre, if handled at all decently, should he in the fighting line. The Flying contains a number of fair sprinters, and quite a number appear to have equal chances. Moutoa Queen and Veto are a good brace. When one considers the small stake offered (£2lO to winner) the St. Andrew’s Handicap lias drawn a remarkably large and good field. Adjutant. if supported by his party, would have a second to none chance, but may be reserved for more important events. Master Moutoa and Montana must command respect. The Spring Hurdles is at the mercy <f Raynor’s stable. Possibly Marten may be the elect over a two mile course. Of the twenty-two ‘ acceptors for the Waituna Hack Hurdles, Nicomar and Record are nicely handicapped. At present sixteen figure in the Feilding Stakes (£500). Bisogue will carry a lot of Taranaki money, but has the hardest part to do in giving good two-year-olds two and a-half stone over a live furlong course. Crowhurst and Estlaml are a pair of youngsters who are sure to run well. Should Ladify reproduce her Now Zealand Cup loim (in which event «he must have run the first mile in the vicinity of 1.42), then the Kiwitea Welter would be the best of good things. Unfortunately the bay mare is not over generous, and may perform poorly. In the concluding event, the Fitzroy Hack, another great field promises to start. Mint Gardiner holds a strong hand with Analogue and Cam]) Guard, but in such a crowd, and knowing the dispositions of the horses, the writer prefers Antwerp and Hopeite.
