TAKAPUNA SPRING MEETING. Per Press Association. Auckland, November 2.3. The Takapuna .Jockey" Club's Spring Meeting commenced to-day, the track was rather heavy after the ram. He- I suits:— j Maiden Handicap, of 150 sovs, one ' mile.—Carbiuess (9.1) 1, Bloomine (8.8) 2, Erroneous (8.10) 3. Scratched: Paddington Green, Sea-Dei!, Chilblain. Won by a neck. Time 1.50. A protest was entered against Carbiness on the ground that the mare allegedly won two races previously at Pirougia and was trained by an unlicensed trainer. The stewards held up the stakes for the first prize pending further information, and in the meantime the tote to pay out. The owner informed the stewards that the horse was stolen from him and was entered for Pirougia without his knowledge. j Borough Handicap, of 17.3 sovs, ofc j furlongs.—Tinoreka (7.3) 1, Lady Glen (7.1) 2, King Lupin (8<0) 3. All .started. Won by a neck. Time 1.12 10-5.
