LOCAL AND GENERAL.
A Press Association telegram from Auckland states:—Evidence- of widespread cargo-pillaging lias been discovered on the steamer Opawa, which .arrived from Liverpool via Sydney yesterday. The Customs searchers found broken cases in the holds and elsewhere, and the plants of pillaged cargo given indication of an alarming amount of broaching. Two seamen have been arrested, and will be charged with pillaging.
