FIRST BALLOT ON THURSDAY. Per Press Association. Wellington, November 14. It is understood the first ballot to fill shortages in the ‘23rd and 24th Reinforcements will probably ho held on Thursday. OCCUPATION OF SAMOA.
Wellington, November 14. , The Hon. Jus. Allen has received statements of expenditure in connection with the military occupation of Samoa during September and October, and the total expenditure to the end of last month, as follows: —September £6144, October £1651 ; total, from August, 1914, to October, 1916, £1289,768. PARCELS FOR PRISONERS OF WAR. Wellington, November 14. The Governor has received a cable from Mr Bonar Law, stating that Germany has decided not to admit parcels for prisoners of war in Germany between December 15 and 25. -ur Law fears, therefore, parcels not reaching England before December 1 are unlikely to arrive at their destination before Christmas.
