"VICTORY FOR FREEDOM." Press Association—Copyright, Auscra. lian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received 9.30 a.m.) London, November 5. An article in "The Nation". headed "The Victory of Freedom/' says: Australia's rejection of conscription for the Overseas offers . substantia l ground for hope for humanity after the war. Australian Labor won th ; 6 battle which British Labor lost: Canada is plainly against conscription, and with the Irish example, we may conclude that the advent of force in the domain of military, service is definitely stayed throughout the Empire. Wo all desire closer union with free Btritish Nations, but it is now clear the union cannot be founded upon forced Imperial service. So far as the Imperial war is concerned, it is clear the Dominions wish to retain their liberty. The Australian sacrifices would be enormous, and the vote is a reminder that there is a limit to a drain on the colonial men.
