Christchurch, Octdoer 31. i Training at Riccarton took place under wintry conditions. There was a cold wind with rain. Most of the work was done outside of the course, Which was faster than the plough Wardancer beat Good Hope over a milo and a quarter in 2.18 3-5. Disdainful beat Panmure over six furlongs on the plough in 1.18 3-5. Balboa easily with Settler did 10 furlongs in 2.18 3-5. San Sebastian and Adjutant ran a mile in 1.48. Glen Helen did the same alone. Chortle, comfortably with Multiplication, ran five furlongs in 1.4. Flying Start ! and Battle Eve covered, seven furlongs 'in 1.32. Snub was better than Indigo | and Sedd-el Balir over 10 furlongs done in 2.14. Fiery Cross ran 10 [furlongs with Slogan over the last 'six in 2.13.3-5, doing the best at the (finish. Daytime ran half-a-mile in 51. JRorke's Drift' easily beat Ringform in 2.15. Multiply beat Toki over 9 furlongs on the grass in 2.2 2-5. I Desert Gold ran a good mile in 1.44 3-5. Merry Roe, with Bleriot over jthe 'last part, ran nine furlofigs on (the plough.in 1.59 2-5. Ascalaphus (beat Sir Tarka over seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5. Mullingar beat Marc Antony by two lengths. Marco Beilo was beaten off at twelve furlongs run in 2.40—a good gallop for both ' horses. Hymestia and Estland were well matched at the finish of half-a-mile down the-straight, Egypt beared out " Beltane. Pourparlour ran | a Kriry-L mile in 1.43 3-5. Meltciiikoir ran six furlongs in 1.17.- A number of horses, chiefly two-year olds, worked down the straight but it was impossible to time them.
The following cablegram, »igned "Stead-Imttrell," reached the WeL' lington Dominion office on S #urdjf: —"Kilboy and Sasauof 6 Separately at Caulfield to-day rata mile and a .half in 2mmrS, S ec., an'rbSasanof a mile in " : lmm. 42sec. Both were track records. Prospects are bright for the Cup. Sasanof had a bad passage in the -Caulfield Clip. Cannot decide which is the better.
