N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE COY'S REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile iYgency Co., Ltd., Stratford brand] report as follows: — On Thursday, 28th September, wo held our Kolmratahi sale, when wo had a fair yarding, and have to report a good sale. Prices:—Store cows (small) £5 17s, medium £6 Gs, fair weight £7 15s, yearling heifers (small) £3 15s to £3 19s 6d, yearling steers £5 7s, 2|-year steers up to 10 guineas, 2-year-old empty heifers £<> to £6 10s, wethers 30s lid to 32s 2d, hoggets 23s Gd to 255. On Friday, 29th September, we held our sale at Matau, but owing to the very wet and stormy weather, tiro yarding was small, but everything was cleared at full market values. On Tuesday, 3rd- October, we held our usual fortnightly sale at our Stratford yards. We hud a fair yarding ant! competition was good. Most lines were cleared at satisfactory prices. A small line of fat ewes made 355. Store cows (small) from 15 5s to £6 3s, medium £6 10s to £7 !9s, fair quality £8 3s to £S lis, forward stores £8 14s to £9 18s, fat cows up to £l3, yearling heifers £3 Ss 6d to £4 3s, yearling steers £5 5s to £5 15s, 15-months heifers £5 3s to So 12s Gd .empty 2-year-old heifers £6 Is to £7 2s 6d, cows and calves CS.
In the Dairy Yards on the 3rd inst., we had a fair yarding, but the quality of previous years is lacking. Good lines are in good demand. Cows, not showing much quality, £lO to £ll, heifers (small and low-conditioned) £5 to £6 15s, medium £6 15s to £7 15s, fair £9 to £lO, good £lO 5s to £lO 10s.
On Thursday, 12th October, we held a sale at our Kohuratnhi yards. The day was wretchedly wet, and the roads wore in a very bad state. The vai'ding, however, was fair, and the sale was considered a Rood one, and cattle sold at advanced values. The following are some of the prices realised:—Store cows up to £6 10s, yearling heifers from £4 9s fid to £1 14s, vearlifio; steers £4 ]9s lid to steers (small) £8 4s, '2-yeniv old empty heifers £6 to £6 15s 6d, wethers 31s 7d, hulls £9" 5s to £9 lbs. Our next Kohuratahi sale will he held on 9th November, 1916.,
On Friday, 13th October, we held onr usual monthly sale at To Wera, "•hen we had a fair yarding, and cleared most lines at advanced prices. Store cows (medium) £G 17s Gd, heavy £8 to £8 18s, fat cows np to £9 14s, 3-year steers £ll ss, 18-months steers °7 9s, yearling heifers £1 to £4 2s Id, yearling steers £4 7s Gd, dairy cows (small) £S 18s to £9, pood lines £ls 10s ;to. £lO ss, hulls up to £l2 12s. I Our next Te Wera sale will be held on November 10th, 1916. On Monday, 16th inst., we held our first bull sale. There was a large entry and variety, all breeds being well represented. Competition was Rood, and ajlarge number was disposed of. Shorthorns were in good demand, and those entered by Mr Jas. R. Corri<rnn slid well, as well as a few pedigree jerseys.'"' Prices: —Jerseys from-' 1!) guineas to 28 guineas, Holsteins Clothing choice) £7 10s to £9 -5s for small, fair £lO 5s to £l2 10s, Shorthorns £9 15s to £l3 for small, £l3 ins to £ls 15s for medium, good Shorthorns made from 16 to 27 guineas.
On Tuesday, 17th inst., we hold our fortnightly sale at Stratford. Wo had a good yarding of both store and dairy cattle, and pigs, and cleared everything at the hammer or afterwards at advanced prices. There was keen competition for most lines. Prices:—Store cows (keen demand) small cattle £5 17s 6d to £6 13s, medium £7 to £B, forward £8 to £8 13s, fat £ll 5s 6d, yearling steers (small) 425, medium £5 17s 6d to £5 18s, good £G Os 6d, yearling heifers (small) £3 to £3 ss, fair lines £5 9s to £o 12s, 2-year steers £8 15s to £8 19s, 2-year heifers £6 13s.
In the Dairy Yards we had a nice lot of heifers from Mr D. M. PiteaithW, which elicited keen competition. Small heifers brought £6 5s to £8 15s, fair £9 10s to £lO ss, good £ll to £l2 7s 6d. Pigs: slips (small) made lis, medium 15s, good slips 20s.
PRIVATE SALES. Since we last reported we have put chrough a large volume of sales to in unsatisfied demand, with prices hardening; i.e. heifers (small) £7 15s bo £8 ss, mixed yearlings (small) £3 \.% yearling heifers £4 7s 6d, yearling steers £4 15s to £6, 2-year-old e:r|pty heifers £5 10s to £6 10s, 2rear steers £9 to £9 ss, fat cows £ll ~u (id, dairy cows £l2 12s, ewes (i. 1.) Ms, hoggets 25s to 27s Gd, wethers no to 33s 6d.
On Tuesday, 19th inst., we held our monthly sale of wool, sheepsidns, hides and tallow. We offered a very fair catalogue to a spirited hunch of buyers.
Sheepskins were in keen demand, ind showed an advance on last sale rates of U\ to :}il per lb. Oddments of wool realised full values, whilst hides and calfskins were much sought of tor, and at advanced prices. The following prices were obtained:— Sheepskins—Pelts (inferior) 3£d per Hi, crossbred (torn) little wool s;|d, J and full-woollod skins 12.U1 to 123 d, damaged 9Jd to lOd, dead IOJ-il, damp skips 9s Id each, butchers' sheepskins (dry) realised 12Jd per lb, whilst butchers' salted skins ruled from 9s 6d to 13s 8d each.

Horsehair—ls 4d per lb.
