HALF-YEARLY RALLY. Con tributed.) The half-yearly Hally of the Taranaki Christian Endeavour Union was held in the Methodist Church, Stratford, yesterday. Representatives were present from the Baptist Tabernacle (New Plymouth), Hawera Methodists, Eltham Methodists, Midhirst and Stratford Methodists and Stu.Aubyn Methodists. ■r.p Greetings were received from the Presbyterian Bible Class Rally then in session at Waverley. Rev. R. B. Tinsley (vice-president) presided at all the meetings of the Rally. He apologised for the absence of the President (Rev. E. 0. Blamires) and on his behalf extended a hearty welcome to.- the visiting delegates. The first meeting was for Junior Endeavorers. Mr Cobhani, of Baptist Tabernacle, New Plymouth, gave an interesting and instructive blackboard address upon Stratford’s first tramcar. The mechanism and working principles of the car were first explained to the children and from them appropriate lessons were drawn and enforced. At 3 p.m. the Seniors assembled. In spite of many other attractions, there was a good attendance. After the opening, excerises, the roll was called and the above societies responded. Two papers (designed u> supplement each other) were rea l wrote upon, “The Person nf the and Work.” Mrs G. H. Bridgman ivorked upon, “The Person of the Holy Spirit,” and Mr Cobham followed with a paper upon “The Spirit’s Work.” Both papers were greatly anureciated and a fruitful discussion followed. The afternoon session was brought to a close by the administration of the Sacrament by the Rev. A. 0. Harris, assisted by the Rev. R. B. Tinsley. Lunch and tea were provided for visiting delegates by the Straftord Society. A hearty vote o) thanks was accorded tho local Kndeavonrcrs for their hospitality. -Miss E. Jacksou ably responded for the Stratford Society. At tho afternoon and evening sessions a solo was rendered by Miss Neilson and Miss G. Everiss respectively. The final session was held in the evening, commencing at 7.30. due earnestness and enthusiasm of the afternoon meetings reached their culmination in the evening meeting. A solemn service resulted, the Rev. R. B. Tinsley spoke upon “The Personal Touch.” The speaker pointed out that through touch we get a sense of reality not to bo got through any other sense organ. -Touch is tuo consummation of love, and love is not complete without the touch. Applying these thoughts to spiritual work, the sneaker emphasised the need for a personal touch with God and men. A brief time was devoted to prayer and testimony. A few words of farewell were voiced by the Vice-president, and the Rally was brought to an end by singing The Doxology.
