» OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] At at recent meeting of the Douglas School Committee a hearty and unanimous resolution was placed on record eulogistic of the efficient and excellent record of Mr J. \V. Jones during his capacity as headmaster of the Douglas school, a period of nearly live years. Mr Jones proceeds shortly to take charge of the Mckoia school. The annual inspector’s report was as follows:—Teachers, Mr W. J. Jones and Miss S. Cameron ; roll 60, present 57. Subjects: Reading, (•-'od; composition, good; grammar, S. J and S. H good, S. 5 and S. 6 satisfactory; writing, good; spelling, very good; recitation, very good; arthmetic, very good, oral exercises, satisfactory; drawing, very good; singing, good; tone, action songs, very good; physical instruction, to table 7 ; geography, good ; history, good. Girls, Homo science; hoys and girls, agriculture and gardening; nature study in lower classes, very good; paper-folding in lower classes, good; needlework, very good, a wide course. School buildings in very good order, a considerable amount of work having been accomplished in the grounds; the shelter shod and out offices are rather limited. The training and progress of the preparatory classes arc satisfactory and well* advanced. Order, discipline and tone of the school, very good. The pupils arc generally responsive and the oral training is satisfactory. Efficiency of the school very good. In both departments good methods have been applied with success. Marks allotted in, connection with the beautifying of the school and grounds and the supervision-of the premises, etc., 83 out of possible 100. The above is one of the best annual reports of the school. Ihe householders, school children ami the Ladies’ Patriotic Committee have in contemplation to moot in the Public Hall, Douglas, to bid an revoir to Miami Mrs Jones, who are leaving during the week for their new homo.
