THE £5 NOTE FORGERIES.

The trial has opened of five men w ho were arrested in connection with the £o note forgeries. Two of them pleaded guilty, and were remanded for sentence. Four prisoners, two of whom had been convicted in connection with the note forgeries, attacked a warder in Tamworth gaol and escaped. One subsequently surrendered. hut the others are still at liberty. The warder was* taken to hospital, where he is in a critical condition.
