PERSONAL.
Intimation has been received that Private Harry Blair, son of Mr Wm. Blair, ■senr., of Stratford, has been killed in action in France. The deceased, who was educated at the first Stratford Public . School,,- -.]st with the 10th Reinforcements from Te Puke. For some years he was employed in the,-; Railway ~ Department,' and was also for a time with Messrs McCluggage at Whangalnomona. The death occurred at a private hospital in Gisborne on Thursday, of Mr Archibald Brodie, an elder brother of the late Mr Andrew Brodie, of Matawhero. Deceased, who was on a visit to his two sisters in Gisborne (states the Poverty Bay Herald), came from Whangamomona, Taranaki, where he was held in much esteem by many friends. During the two months he had been in Gisborne his health had been indifferent, but his demise came as a sad blow. In addition to Sister Brodie and Miss Brodie, of Gisborne, another sister resides in' Taranaki, whilst two brothers reside at Napier' and WeliiVigtoii respectively.
