LOCAL AND GENERAL.
The Stratford School Committee meet to-night at 8 o'clock. The Mayoress (Mrs J. W. Boon) will be pleased to received names of any young ladies who would kindly assist the Red Cross Committee by taking collecting boxes on Saturday next on behalf of % the Red Cross Fund; As many people are desirous of giving flowers for the Red Cross Fund, the Committee have arranged to be in attendance on Friday evening to rceive same at the shop lately occupied by Mr T. W. Smith, Broadway, and kindly lent t<f the Committee by R. Hannah and Co. The public who are anxious to attend at the Red Cross Concert on Thursday next' cannot do better than at once'reserve their seats at Gruob s, Broadway. From reports to hand, the tickets are selling well, and there is every indication that a full house is assured. An attractive programme has been arranged. A Press Association telegram from Wellington states: -loan Levy, shipping reporter on the New Zealand Times, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with communicating to Thomas Harry Chudley information as to the strength of His Majesty's naval forces contary to the War Kegulations Act. Chudley, Marine Superintendent for Shaw Savill and Coy., gave evidence that Levy read to "him and Mr Brown a letter giving a description of Great Britain's naval armaments. Some of the information was afterwards published in the newspapers. The hearing is proceeding-
