A FURTHER APPEAL.

fTo The Eottob Stratforh Post. I Sir, In your issue of 12th instant .1 inserted both a letter and an advertisement asking for lelief for the Belgians in Belgium.

Last night 1 received from the Minister of Internal Affairs a letter dated 9th instant enclosing:—

1. The first annual report of the British National Committee for Relief in Belgium.

2. Pamphlet, "Mr Asquith on Belgium" containing the Prime Minister's speech at the first annual meeting of the British National Committee.

3. Pamphlet containing an article on the work of the Neutral Commission for Relief in Belgium by the London correspondent of the "Sydney Morning Herald." The following are a few extracts made by me :

1. "None of the food goes to the Germans. Moreover there has been so far as J am aware no complaint 1 y the Belgium people of interference with their supplies." "Nothing goes from Holland into Belgium which is not shipped under the seal of the Commission for relief."

2. "On May 4th. 1910." Mr Asqiiith, "in the course of a notable speech," said "I desire to express on behalf of the Government our deep gratitude to Mr Hoover and to those American citizens who have so uobly given up their time and their occupations without recompense, and to a large extent without recognition to this work." "The Belgian Minister said: Thanks to the wonderful organisation it is certain the foodstuffs have been placed directly and entirely at the disposal of the Belgian population, without perceptible leakage or abuse."
