In the Roumanian Parliament, M. Basilesco said he believes the following are the motives of the Central Powers in their attempt to crush Roumania; Victory would mean the <onsoldiation of Germany, the mastery Of tho North Sea and the Persian Gulf, invasion of Russia from the south via Bessarabia, control of the Black Sea, and perhaps a decisive victory in the east, also the securing of vast Roumanian stores of corn, petroleum, benzine, mineral oils, salt, timber, goods, the railways, and the system of transport on the Danube besides securing the crops.
