i Sergeant W. Rogers (Stratford) of j the 49th Reinforcements, is in hospital at Masterton suffering from .measles.

Mr F. W. Mansfield, Rcg'etrarGcneral, in retiring, leaves the public service definitely at the end of November, after C 3 years' service.

Corporal J. K. Cresswoll, of the staff of the Stratford School, prior to enlisting for the front, is now numbered with the wounded.

■ Mr A. 11. Hillock, who lias taken over Mr T. Marshall's business in Stratford, is a returned soldier, having seen service in Gorman South West Africa under Genera! Botha.

Mr J. A. Turton, of Hawera, died in a private hospital in New Plymouth on Saturday night. He bad been operated upon for an internal malady, and. his end was not unexpected. Xormanbyf' Molls, Ararata, and Melrose Dairy Companies, and trustee in several important estates. He was associated with tbe Golf Club, Hawera Club, and other institutions, and for several
