Mi/-'W. Kerr," 53!., with bis wife and daughter, left Wanganui for Masterton on Monday.
Mr Roberts, who is in charge of the Stratford County Council's steam roller, met with an accident at Cardiff some days ago. While leading a horso past, the roller, be was kicked in the chest, and is not yet sufficiently recovered to resume duty.
Thai death occurred at Timaru of Mr J. R. Scott, a well-known citizen of Dunedin, at the age of 68. Mr Scott was best known through his connection with the dairy export \rade in the South Island, and was secretary to the South Island Dairy Association.
At the Upper Hutt on Tuesday evening a large gathering of farmer* and settlors met to say farewell to Mr P. «Garvey,'wno is leaving the district. Mr GaTvey has been , agent at the Upper Hutt for Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., for ( the last six years, and is severing his connection with the'iirm to take up an important position as fat stock buyer'for the Taranaki Farm_ ers' Co-operative Meat Company. Mr Ward, who'occupied the chair, spoke .very highly of Mr Garvey's business qualifications, and of the esteem in which he is also held for his sterling personal worth. On behalf of his numerous friends, the chairman asked Mr, Garvey to accept a cheque as a token of their regard. Mr J. B. Moodie, speaking for Messrs Dalgety and Co., saicl it g&ve him tho greatest pleasure to be present, and to endorse all that Mr Ward had said. The company w%g exceedingly sorry to lose Mr Uarv ( ey's services, after a connection extending ©veOgurjseen years, but he congvatuheartily on the position,' he had'secured, which he thoroughly-; de- ( and predicted for him an increasing measure of success in the work he is now undertaking.
