FOLEY'S PICTURES. GABY DESLYS FIRST FILM. To-night at His Majesty's Tbe.itre. the management will present to patrons the great international star actress, and dancer Miss Gaby Deslys i" a photo play which has been specially written . for her entitled 'lHbr Triumph." The story is most graphic and convincing, and depicts the persistent efforts of an ambitious woman to ascend the ladder of fame. Commencing as a ballet dancer, she overcomes every obstacle and every temptation, conquering even the jealousy of many of her fellow artists, till she ultimately reaches the pinnacle of her ambition. Gaby Deslys gives a tine portrayal of the part and reveals the fact that .she can present emotion as well as motion. As a dancer Gaby Deslys has won. a high place in the admiration x>f ; theatre-goers i» Pans London,'imd New York, and the picture would Tie incomplete without ;i" exhibition of her aft. Two of the most, successful of her dances the "Dance Deslys' 'and the "Danse les Apaches" are introduced with splendid effect, In these Mdlle. Deslys has, as partner, Harry Plieer, tine American (lancer, whose grace and vigour in the dances add no little to their success. As it is unlikely that Gaby Deslys will be seen out here, at any rale not for some time to come, no doubt many will be attracted by curiosity to see the famous beauty. A tine supporting programme ha s been selected, and will include aMr and Mr s Sidney Drew comedy "How John Came Home," a line comedy drama by the Edison Company "The Seventh Day," as well as the "Pathe Gazette" and a beautiful coloured scenic film.
THE DAW DIES. The reputation standing to the credit of "The Dandies" is such that ini troductory notices are hardly neees- ! sary, beyond the plain statement that these versatile entertainers are to appear in the Town Hall next Saturday evening. Commenting on the opening Pbirforniance of "The Dandies" in ,'Christchurch recently, the "Press" said, "good wine, needs no bush, and a Branseombe Company needs no recommendation," ami this opinion is generally endorsed wherever the art:sts comprising "The Dandies" appear. They have for several seasons become, recognised as one of file regular amusement institutions of the Dominion, and by the high standard of their programmes have established a large following. "The Dandies" may lie ...aid to base their success on the fact that they possess the happy faculty of divining what the public requires in the way of pleasant relaxation, and presenting u accordingly. Pleasant remembrances of past companies should ensure a large audience when the "Pink Dandies" appear on Saturday. Seats may be reserved at ui'iibb's.
