A dance will be held in the Town Hall on Thursday next. Fox's Band and a good floor should be sufficient to guarantee a treat for dancers. The circle will be open for onlookers. The Secretary of the Taranaki Provincial War Relief Association received from the Stratford Patriotic Committee td-day the sum of £GGLI 0s 9d being that Committee's -first instalment to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The Dominion meteorologist (Rev. D. C. Bates) telegraphs:—The indications are for variable and strong breezes, but northerly moderate to strong winds prevailing and freshening, ''again backing by north to west. Weather cloudy /to overcast, with a very low barometric pressure. Barometer falling soon. j The final number of New Zealand "Hansard," the official record of Parliamentary speeches, has just been issued, and discloses that there lias been no economy of words during the war session, whatever may bave been sftid by the politicians regarding the need for economy in other directions. The session was longer by two days meeting than''the broken session of 1915, and its speecbes run to 950 pages of "Himsard," whicb is also in excess of the previous war session.
