ENEMY SHSPYARDS BOMBED. The High Commissioner reports:— London, September 4 (2.00 p.m.) The British official report states: On Saturday naval aeroplanes dropped bombs oil tho shipyards at Hoboken, near Antwerp, and on Sunday on the aerodrome at Gistelles to some purpose. An innkeeper reported that a Zeppelin had been seen at an Last Coast nort drifting seaward in perpendicular position. CROWDS WATCH BLAZING ZEP. Press Association—Copyright, Australian and X.Z. Cable Association. London, September -L The Zeppelin crashed to earth 100 yards from a peaceful village church. A glare like sunrise was seen for miles. It .was' an awe-inspiring spectacle as it swept to the ground afire. .Many thousands were watching, having been awakened by the bombs and guns, and gathered to the scene, while vehicles of all kinds arrived from miles around. The traffic on the great north road out-rivalled Derby Day. The military authorities are guarding the ruins. Apart from the engines am! parts of the huge propellers, the Zeppelin is now only ashes, the envelope being entirely burned.
THE AUGUST TOLL OF AEROPLANES. 121 GERMAN 68 ALLIED. (Received 8.55 a.in.) London, September 4. According to the Anglo-French and German communiques, IS!) aeroplanes wore downed in August, including 121 German, of which the British accounted for 33. THE ZEPPELINS ON THE HOMEWARD JOURNEY. FISHERMEN REPORT SEVERELY DAMAGED. (Received 11.10 a.m.) Copenhagen, September 4. Fishermen at his berg report that they saw five Zeppelins on Sunday forenoon olf Stylt going very slowly. The crew were throwing articles overboard to kbep them afloat. One Zeppelin was severely damaged, and the fishermen believe that it fell into the sea between Sylt and the Schleswig coast. ~i '• .
