DEFENCE CONTRACT ALLEGED TO BE BROKEN. Wellington, August 31. The defence in the case of the Crown v. Abraham Levy, in which defendant was charged on eight counts of a wilful break of contract, for the supply of .military uniforms opened to-day. Mr Gray, K.C., contended that the War Regulations Act was intended to apply to such cases as the refusal to' proceed with contracts for the supply of food for the troopships, which was calculated to be injurious to the military or naval operations or to the defence of New Zealand.
