STRATFORD £IOO SHOOT.

LONG LIST OF NOMINATIONS.

At the executive meeting of the Stratford Gun Club on Saturday night members were delighted to learn the excellent nominations for the £IOU pigeon match to be shot on the A. and P. Showgrounds on Wednesday, August 30. Some of the best shots in the Dominion are included in the list in the hands of the secretary, who reported to the meeting that fifty-eight competitors had sent forward their names. These, together with others sent direct to the handicapper (Mr T. H. James, of Wanganui) bring the total to well over sixty—a result which exceeds the most sanguine expectations. Although the Club has over 600 birds in loft on Messrs Xelpon and Green’s property on the East Hoad, this number will not be sufficient for tlie sh6ot, and it was decided to procure an extra 300 to meet the requirements of the day. The meeting dealt with several matters of detail, and members are now showing very keen interest in the Club’s first bid for popularity with shooters and the pub-i lie, all of whom will now look forward to the declaration of the handicaps in the course of the next few days. The match will occupy all day, starting at nine o’clock, and.to allow of uninterrupted proceedings, luncheon will be available on the e-rounds, which are ideal for the purpose of a shoot. Alarge gatering of the public is ex-s pectod, esp.-cially n.s a live bird match will be something or

a novelty to the majority of residents in Taranaki, and the proceeds of the gate are to lie handed over to the Patriotic Committee.
