Sergeant \\ A. Betts, of 9o Coy Senior Cadets, who attended an examination at Palmerston North last week, received notice on Saturday, prior to leaving camp, that he had qualified for the first appointment to a commission. Sergeant Betts r.-as still to pass the theory examination. Mr. Robert Spence, senior partner in the well-known Stratford legal firm of Spence and Stanford, who i-, a platoon Sergeant with the n'/th. Reinforcements, has been spending his final leave in Stratford and left this morning for Camp timid the good wishes of many friends. On Saturday evening Mr. Spence was entertained by the members of the Stratford Club, and on th nr behalf a presentation was made as a slight nmim of the esteem in widen ho is held.
