An Italian communique states: We continue to press enemy at the Carso plateau. We pierced another strong lino of entrenchments. Artillery duels are proceeding at Gorizia. Austrians are shelling the town and bridges on the Isonzo, and there are short sharp encounters elsewhere. We repulsed the Austrians everywhere. Aviators bombed Monfalcone and other places, but there were no casualties and no damage was done.
SUCCESSFUL ITALIAN ADVANCE. The High Commissioner reports: — London, August 14 (2.20 p.m. The Italian official report states: On the Carso plateau we continue to press the enemy. East of Xadlogen, another strong line of hostile entrenchments were pierced and 800 prisoners taken. AUSTRIAN NEW DEFENCES ATTACKED. Rome, August 13. The Italians are now attacking recently constructed Austrian defences, ten kilometres behind the former line. AUSTRIANS ADMIT ADVANCE. Vienna, August 13. A communique states: The Italians have advanced in strong force on our now front, between the sea and Monte langabrielle. East of Vallona, we remised violent attacks. Since the Italian offensive commenced wo have taken 5,000 prisoners.
