THE WAR LOAM. SILVER BULLETS WANTED. Per Press Association. Wellington, August 12. In connection with the War. Loan, the Postmaster-General has addressed the following letter to every officer of the Post and Telegraph servico:—* “1 am addressing you personally with a view to securing your cooperation making the loan a success. Mon have been leaving the country in thousands for two years past for the purpose of fighting its battles, and money is needed as much as men in order to secure victor* over the common enemy. You and I have not been able to take any part in the fighting, but we can do our part effectually by finding money to maintain the men who are fighting. 'Will you assist by subscribing personally and by bringing the matter under the notice of every one of your friends, and urging them to help. The country needs the use of money now. Hitherto, most of the money required for the war has been obtained from the Old Country, though tho conditions of life are far harder there than they are here. While there are many Now Zealanders brave enough to fight and die for their country, is it to bo said of those who stayed behind that they were too mean even to pay? I shall be very glad if you will do all in your power to assist m preventing such a reproach being deserved. Many of us are debarred from firing leaden bullets, but we all have a chance of 'firing a silver one now.” LATEST CASUALTY LIST. Wounded, embarked for England. Lance-Corporal C. S. Masters.
