PERSONAL.

The funeral of the late Mr Albert Jones will leave the Stratford Hospital at three o’clock to-morrow afternoon for the Kopuatama Cemetery.

Mr C. B. Walsh, of Romeo Street, who is (Standing for the vacancy on the Borough Council, is one of Stratford’s successful business men, having been in business in Broadway for 10 years. He lias always taken a keen interest in the welfare of the borough and knows the requirements of the ratepayers generally.

Mr W. Power, of Wellington, who has been appointed permanent secretary of the Taranaki Provincial War Relief Association, arrived in Stratford by the mail train last evening, and commenced duties to-day. Mr Power is a returned soldier. He left Xew Zealand with the Main Body as a Sergeant in No. 1 Machine Gun Section, Wellington Infantry Regiment, and served on Gallipoli Peninsula under the late Lieut.-Colonel Malone. After four months service on the Peninsula, he contracted enteric fever, and was invalided home, arriving in Xew Zealand on October III), 1915. Mr Power was discharged, from the forces on April 20, as unfit for further military service. The office of the Association will be situate in the Municipal Buildings, and will be open daily from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m.
