Mr Asquith, in the House of Commons, intimated that Lord Wimbourne’s position as Viceroy of Ireland had been modified in order to enable the duties of the office to be discharged to the greatest advantage, although the ultimate authoriy and re'sponsibiliy of the Irish Administration would necessarily remain with the Minister answerable to the House. L..A German firm sought to compel an Italian firm which contracted lor the surplus British coal to fulfil a contract. The Italian refused on the ground that it had bought the coal under agreement not to sell to an enemy firm. The Supreme Court ruled that the contracts made with Peru were unaffected by the British Trading Enemy Act.
