An Austrian communique states: We captured positions on the heights of Jahlonica and Worochta, and westward of Tartaroff. Von Koeveis rcH'lled strong forces on both sides of .Montasbolozo and San Michele. We recaptured our advanced positions.
The Italians heavily bombarded Gorinzia, damaging the hospital and tilling several people.

Koine, August 8
The Italians have begun a great offensive on the Isonzo and Carso on a sixty-mile front, for which they have prepared for several weeks. The action began on Friday morning. After i, violent bombardment had destroyed the enemy trenches and fortifications, the infantry charged and captured the first and second scheme of defence. The enemy at first made strong resistance, but then fled. The fighting was most violent on the Gorigia-Morifalcone section. A number of Bulgarian and Croatian units surrendered. Four thousand prisoners wore captured up to Sunday,’ and they are continuing to come in by the thousand.
