DISCHARGED SOLDIERS’ BUREAU Per Press Association. Wellington, August 4. The latest return, issued by the Hon A. L. Herdnum to-day, dealing with the work of the Discharged Soldiers’ Information Department, show's that the number of cases dealt with is. rapidly mounting up. To date 523 b names are on tin- register; of these 3509 cases have hcmi deposed of, 1023 are being dealt with, and 699 are,not ready for action, including men who returned by recent transports. One thousand three hundred and eighty-six j men have re-enlisted and returned to military duty or have work xo rethrn to, 815 have been placed in employ-*! ment, and 888 have instructed the department that they do not require assistance; 110 have drawn sections of lalul. Men for whom employment is, required total 310, including ten belonging to Taranaki.
