TREATMENT OF VENEREAL DISEASES. (Received 10.55 a.in.) Melbourne, July 11. The Federal Ministry have decided to take action in conjunction with the States to eradicate veneral diseases by the establishment of clinics and treatment at an estimated expenditure of £25,000 annually. It is estimated that sixteen per cent of persons on receipt of invalid pensions became invalids through the effects of syphilis, and if the disease is eliminated it is believed the present number of invalid pensions will be reduced ten per cent., and result in an annual saving of £60,000. « ■ — 1 , PROTEST AGAINST TAXATION. A deputation representing the Australian Association of British manufacturers protested against the high tax on goods sold here on behalf of a company not registered in Australia.
