SIX O’CLOCK CLOSING.
A WELLINGTON MEETING. Feb Panne Association. Wellington, Juno 29. A public meeting took place in the Town Hall to-night, and was addressed by advocates of six o’clock closing of hotel bars. The Mayor presided. The speakers were; The Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott), Dr. PlattMills, Dr. Newman, Rev. Dr. Gibb, Commissioner Hodder (Salvation Army), and Mr John Hutcheson, Resolutions wore carried that the adoption of six o’clock closing of liquor bars is Urgently demanded by the supreme necessity of developing and concentrating in the service of the Empire the full energy of the Dominion for the purpose of winning ihe war, also directing the Government's attention to mandate of the people given by resolutions of public meetings and petitions to Parliament hearing a hundred thousand signatures, and calling on the Government and Parliament to give immediate, effect to the will of the people.
