STRATFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Stratford Borough Council was held last night, when there were present:-His Worship 1 the Mayor (Mr J. W. Boon), nnd Ors. Hancock, Lawson, Mills, Rutherfurd, Thompson a;:ul .Young. ; •.. -im •Oh the motion of the Mayor, seconded! by Cr. Thompson, it was decided, thai! the engineer's value the water rights, and that the time he extended. On "the motion of Cr. Lawson, seconded by Cr. Thompson) it was decided to take the poll on Wednesday, August 2nd. Cr. Mills moved, and Cr. Hancock seconded, that the amount of loan money asked for he £16,00. —Canned. A letter was received from the Public Trustee stating that they would .take up the loan at 5} per cent, if I'lie poll was scccessfuL—Received. The Mayor reported that the valuation of the Electric Light Company's plant was not yet properly completed, but the final result would be known ; in a few days. Tt was decided.that a public meeting he called two weeks before the date of the poll. .: RESERVES COMMITTEE. That the two unlet shops bo i distempered and "to let" no ices be placed in windows. That reserves in Orlando Street be fenced.- Adopted. Mr Healy was asked to obtain prices for painting the inside walls of three shops and the matter of accepting I tenders for same was left with the Reserves Committee with power to act. On Cr. Young's motion, seconded by Cr. Mills, it was decided that Mr Mollison's request re sign he granted and that the question of approval of this and any other sign be left to the Mayor and Chairman of Works Committee. TOWN BALL COMMITTEE. The Town Hall Committee reported regarding Mr Foley's letter as under: —That the hoardings be leased to Mr i Foley at £lO per annum, and that' no liquor or anti-liquor notices he a>:ver- | tised on boardings. That Mr Foley be asked to make an offer r or the Hall. That Mr Sullivan bo asked to make r detailed report of the required repairs at the Hall.—Adopted.
