COMMONWEALTH SHELL-MAKING (Received 10.20 a.in.) Sydney, June 10. The Labour Council’s lute representative'on the munitions committee, in reporting on shell-making, said it was a dismal failure, as the majority of the firms only made a laughingstock of the whole affair. DISSATISFACTION RAMPANT. PETITION FOR CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT, (Received 10.20 a.m.) Melbourne, June 10. Mr. Mahon lias received a. communication from a resident of Fiji stating that a petition has been presented to tbe Imperial Government, urging annexation of the colony either by 7 Australia or New Zealand, and that if a referendum wore taken, the majority would vite in favour of the proposed change, the main grounds being the stagnation and inability of the Colonial Office to give proper attention to the country’s requirements.
