Captain Stenhouse, in an interview, said that though he was personally unacquainted \\jth the waters round Elephant Island, he had studied the conditions, and was of the opinion that it would take a relief ship from two to three weeks from tiie time of staiting, to-morrow.. The breaking-up of the norjhivarj pack .would necessitate cautious seamanship during the long nights, this curtailing tl\c speed.
