PRO-GERMANS AT CORE,
AN ALLEGED DEMONSTRATION.

In the House this afternoon, Mr Massey read telegrams from the police in reference to an alleged pro-German demonstration at Gore. Mr Massey said that the people concerned would ho charged with' exploding fireworks, and also that not under any circumstances would such conduct be' toler-
ated. The guilty persons would be quickly transferred to Somes Island for the remainder of the war.
MORE PRO-GERMAN CELEBRATIONS.
Gore, June 7
Some excitement occurred in town last evening shortly after eight o’clock. A foundry whistle, blown without authority, and later a false fire-alarm was given. Crowds gathered, and it was rumored that it was hoped the participants in Sunday’s celebrations for Germany’s part in the naval battle would emerge, and the crowd would deal with them, but this did not eventuate. A second fire-alarm was given shortly before ten, and two small haystacks were set on fire, these belonging to William Rarnbaura, an aged naturalised German.
