LONDON WOOL SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, .Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 30th instant: -London Wool Sales.—There was strong competition at the opening sales. Merino is 5J to 7J per cent, and fine crossbred 5 per cent, higher than

at sth May. The. market is firm with an upward tendency for medium, ami coarse crossbred is about the same as last sales. The limit for the sth series of sales ((11th July) is 100,000 bales, and the date of the 6th series has been fixed for sth September.

The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows:

We held our usual monthly auction sale at Kohuratahi yards on Thursday, 2oth May. There was it largt attendance of local farmers, as well as

several Ohura, Eltham and Stratford (buyers present. There was a fair yarding of both cattle and sheep, most of ; which were sold at the hammer at full 'market values. Prices were as follows:—Wearier steers 565, '2O months 'empty heifers from Otis to 09s. 20 months good colored steers 138 s 6d, "21 months steers from 120 s to 148 s 6d, weaner heifers 44s 6d. store cows (small) 80s to 110 s, forward cows 150 s to 160 s, 2-tooth wethers up to 255, lambs, medium quality, 1 Is Bel, 2-tooth ewes (small) 24s 3d. Our next Kohuratahi sale will be held on June 22nd, 1910.

We held our usual monthly sale at our Te WefA yat'ds on Friday, 26th .May. There was a fair yarding of cattle, but no sheep, several entries not coming forward, no doubt owing to the wet rough weather. Attendance was good and competition fair, all lines being cleared at the following prices:— Weaners (small) 23s to 30s Od, lair quality 33s to 36s 6d. weaner steers s'Gs, store, cows 110 sto 113 s. Our next sale at Te Wera will he held on 23rd June.

On .Monday, 29th May, wo held our usual monthly sale at the Tarara yards. The weather was exceptionally we: and rough, but notwithstanding this there was a good yarding and big attendance from all parts of the district, and almost a total clearance was effected. Prices as follows:—lX'. heifers 75s for small, to 130 s for medium, fair 1:55s to 150 s, dairy cows 150 sto : 1 70s tor fair quality, to 185 s and 215 s for good lines. Fat and forward cows, Ismail Ills to 1555, good 160 s to 18ls, Ismail store cows HBs to 90s, weaners '2os to 4:5s 6d.

i At the same time we sold, on account of Airs F. M. Brightwell, the whole of he rstock without reserve, •most of which showed quality and was I keenly competed for, more particularly the sheep, at the following prices:— (Mixed aged ewes 23s 9d, cull ewes Hs 6d, woolly lambs 17s lid, 15 months heifers 555, yearling heifers 38s, yearling steers 51s to 08s. The dairy cows \vere small, compact and mostly young 'animals, showing fair quality, and ranged from 150 s to 2255, making an average of CO. | We also sold several horses, milk carts and implements on account of clients, which were sold at full values. Our next sale at Tarata yards will be held on 30th June, 1916.

i On Tuesday, 30fch May. we held our usual fortnightly sale at our Stratford vards. The yarding was moderate, ),„-! M |l lines, both slice]) and cattle, were keen.lv competed for. Dairy lines wore dull of sale. Lambs, small, poor condition, Ms 3d. weedy lambs Us, mixed weaners 31s. i.e. heifers IMJs, 2< to 3 vear steers 187 s fid to 19..5, store rows (small) 87s to 132 s fid, forward eows Ills to 157 s fid. medium si/,.,1 animals LfiOs to 1755, fat cows ,183 sto 2045. Our next sale at these 'vards will be held on 13th June. 1916.
