AUSTRIANS USE MANY B!C GUNS. IMPORTANT ITALIAN ADVANCE. United Bukbs Association. (Received 1.40 p.m.) ' Rome, May 24. An Austrian officer stated that 350,000 Austrians' participated in the Trontino offensive, using two thousand guns, including sixteen 12-inch mortars and naval 15-inchers. The Italian destruction of Fort Sief was most important ; it was even the key to the Austrian defence in the Eastern Tyrol, and its reduction enabled the Italians to advance several kilometres in the direction of Brixcn.
