The Naval Attache to the British Embassy at Washington is investigating the report that two German raiders are at large in the Atlantic off the Azores. The crew of the steamer Venezia (Fabre line), arriving ex Bordeaux, asy sert that the raiders fired shots at tjheir vessel, but the Yenezia escaped. The Attache has notified British cruisers at Halifax to make a search. It is believed that two submarines accompany the raiders. Later, the British Attache announced that he was unable to find trace of any commerce raiders, and that he disbelieves the report.
