GO&SGRBPTIQN OPPOSED. LABOR CONFERENCE MOTIONS. £Unitwo Press Association J (Received 9.10 a.m.) Sydney, May 9. The Labor Conference carried a motion opposing conscription for service abroad, and directing all unions and 'leagues to oppose it. Labor members are supporting it in order to make the matter the clearest issue between the forces of democracy and despotism. ANOTHER LABOR PROTEST. "DOWN TOOLS" FOR 24 HOURS. (Received 9.45 a.m.) Sydney, May 9. The combined Broken Hill unions passed a resolution to meet the inauguration of any form of conscription by calling upon the workers throughout Australia to "down tools" for twentylour hours.
