AN APPEAL.
HELP FOR RUSSIAN PRISONERS. A special appeal on behalf of Russian prisoners interned in Germany is being made in Now Zealand, and May sth has been chosen as Russian Day in the Dominion. The organising secretary, Mr L. J. Du Flon-Mestdagh, of Auckland, in a letter to the Rev. C. Howard, vicar of All Saints’, Stratford, points out that the matter is one of dire necessity, and in the present case the. poor Russians are as badly off as are the Serbs and the Belgians. There have been, and are, many calls upon private charity, and though this Dominion has helped Belgium, France and Serbia, besides our own wounded, we have done little or nothing to help our noble Russian Allies, of whoso enormous sacrifices we have heard so little. If there are those amongst who, out of their plenty feel disposed to contribute to a good cause, the Rev. Mr Howard will be pleased to accept donations and forward them to the proper quarter.
