CAIRO CELE BRAT? QMS. WREATHS FOR HEROES’ CRAVES. [United Pbkbi AMnnunoN.l Cairo. April 25. Thousands attended the Anzac ser vice, including the Consuls of the Allies and representative detachments of the Anzacs. The Bishop of Jerusalem .presided. Messages were read from Messrs Hughes, Allen and Pearce. A procession inarched to the old Cairo cemetery, where a thousand wreaths were placed on the graves. MESSAGE FROM GENERAL COOLEY. Auckland, April 26. Hon. J. Alien has received the following cable Irom the Officer Commanding the New Zealand Base depot at Cairo: “There was a large attendance of Australians and Now Zealanders at a most impressive memorial service. Your inspiring ■ message was much appreciated. All join sympathy with, the relatives of those lost, and in their determination to do what in them lies. A muster of • the brigades was held at dawn.” General Godley cabled greetings from the Anzac Corps to Now Zealand on Anzac Day, adding: “We honor the memory of our gallant comrades. AT ST. MARK’S, ALEXANDRIA. (Received 8.50 a.m.) Cairo, April 26. St. Mark’s Church, Alexandria, was crowded when a simple touching commemorative service was held. THE CRAVES IN MALTA. (Received 8.50 a.m.) . Malta, April 26. Impressive memorial services wei/e held at the Pieta cemetery, where many Anzacs were buried. The giaves are hidden under masses of flowers and wreaths, the latter being touchingly inscribed. The senders included many Anzacs, who arc recuperating at Malta.
