Skoglund, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, I said they could see by the report that they had .not lost sight of the motion passed at the last annual meeting em-j pbasising the importance of a separate,. High School for Stratford. The matter had been brought under the notice ol ■ tho Department,,and recently a letter had been forwarded suggesting a site, ( but no reply bad been received. If tbo) Department did not go further with I the matter on account of Hie war, he said he hoped the Department would I find the necessary money to purchase J the site. The speaker also referred to the 1 excellent results attained at thej annual examinations. Ho said they j were very fortunate in retaining the services of Mr Tyrer as headmaster. Mr E. Jackson, speaking to tlio motion, said in regard to the improving of the school ground, lie was sorry to notice that,.the report of the snh-eomnut-4too set up to'improve tlte grclpnds was not adopted. The committee suggested planting trees on the outside of the .play .ground. The Board'promised to , grantithe trees jf thV Committee would •plant them. King, in- spiking to the i motion, said he could not agree with tho previous speaker’s remarks corning, the small attendance. ‘'Education was of vital importance, and if the residents knew it they would attend and lend their support. The Stratford School was an institution to he proud of, and the excellent results attained this year were not unusual, as lit had been the same for the last twenty years. After looking at.the position held hy the pupils of the Stratford School, it should he recognised at once wh«t a great assosfc Stratford had in its school. Ho was pleased to seethe finances in a healthy state. The report and balance-sheet wore adopted. THE NOMINATION. GENERAL. 1 Mr R. McK. Morison moved that This meeting of householders expresses its high appreciation of the services rendered by the out-going committee for, the past year. Mr Morison said the committee were not only doing splendid service for the whole district, but the province as well. r i bey were keeping Stratford to the front in educational matters. The motion was seconded by Mr Jackson.—Carried.
