A London cable says that Mr Hughes is rap : dly progressing in health. The death has cccirred at Nelson of Captain William JVoffatt. first officer of the dredge Mawhera, and formerly of the Blackball steamers. Mrs Anne Bullock, relict of the late John Bullock, a weil-kuown Cardiff resident, pasv-d away at the ripe ago of 81 years. The interment will take place at the K puatama Cemetery tomorrow. At an iulo" 1 gathering in Mr Newton Klo''s office, Mr B. T. Booker was presented by Mr S. W. Shaw, on behalf of the members of the staff who regularly visit the coast, with a silver cigarette case for himself, and a case of silver afternoon tea spoons for Mrs Booker as a slight recognition of many kindnesses received during their long occupancy of the Stony River Hotel. Mr and Mrs Booker left for Auckland by the Rarawa last night.
