"SOLDIERS' DAY!"
J Yesterday Messrs I). J.'Malone, J. j W. Boon unci \Y. I'. Kirk wood visited Hjltham aud Kaponga with the object of soiliciting the co-operation of those districts with'the demonstration and garden fete to be held on Faster Monday: At Elthani the visitors were m-'t by the Mayor (Mr B. Dive), Mr Ct;':mp (chairman of the F#ham Patriotic Committee), and Mr 1). Syme, hon. secertary to the committee. The Eltham representatives very favorably viewed the outlined proposals and promised to do all they could to assist in making Soldiers' Day as great a success us possible, it is their intention to place the proposals before their respective! organisations and have every Faith of a favorable reception. At Kaponga the Stratford representatives met Mr Guy, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, Mr Belts, chairman of the Town Board, and other representative townsmen. Mere also the scheme was most cordially received and there is a possibility that the Kaponga Band may take part in the proceedings. The. visit to Eltham and Kaponga is the forerunner to formal application for co-operation to the various organisations and it must be said the preliminary conferences give splendid promise. Other centres will be visited in turn. As practically, the whole of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund is to be pooled in Taranaki, support of Soldiers' Day here may reason- I ably be asked throughout the Taranaki province, and no doubt for this reason that where asked it will be given.
