KOHURATAHI SPORTS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 The anniversary of Ireland's patron Saint was made the occasion for a pic nic arranged by the Public Works employees engaged on constructive works between Kohuratahi and Tahora, in conjunction with the local settlers. The picnic proved a great success, as' well as a surprise, to the promoters, large numbers participating in spite of the short notice under which it was arranged and in spite of the fact that the'old-established Whangamomont sports offered a counter attraction. Conveyances were provided to I carry the children and women folk to and" from the ground, for which a special meed of praise is due to Messrs Humphreys and AVildermoth, for their valuable help and services. Refreshments were provided and sports "held. Owing to the large number present, the delectable dainties made a speedy clearance, the ladies being indefatigable in attending "to the wants of all present. The venue chosen was the site for the Tahora station yard. The day was an ideal one for the outing, till evening, when rain fell, necessitating the curtailment of the programme. Money prizes were distributed to the successful competitors by Mr S. F. Stockley, and Messrs I. Geary, I. Slattery, and T. Cooper acted as judges, T. Horgan and J. Scarric as handicappers. Messrs W.
